Cherry Tree
I marvel at plants. They are magical in the way that they react to their environment. How do they know? I understand in my head how they turn sunlight into food and grow but watching them come out in the springtime fills me full of wonder.
I like to study their growth habits. For instance, the cherry tree in our yard has been weighed down by heavy snows that I often knock off after a storm. Sometimes the snow is heavy and clings to the branches with such force that only the sun will free it. Then, the poor tree is stooped in that direction until summer helps it right itself again.
This tree has a branch that has flopped to the opposite direction to help it balance.
What a tangled mess it will be when it is old but how wonderful to look at the sculpture nature made.
